5: Information Fluency

·         What was most useful to me in my learning process?
The readings were excellent! “Teaching Zack to Think” is a tool I hope to bring to every classroom. Information Investigator 3.1 did not advance my learning. We were expected to spend 2-3 hours on this task. I spent more time than that and realized the material was far beyond my knowledge realm.  I felt so badly for those who shared their time spent and the level of frustration they experienced. At this stage in the game I would have preferred to see something useful. The point was made how demanding self-pace learning can be, but student’s time is precious. I was very disappointed to see valuable time wasted, along with losing points for not completing it.

I did, call me Knowledge Seeker.

There are so many resources to use in teaching. Not all meet my expectations.
·         Do I feel that what I learned in and through this course will have applications in other areas of my life? If so where will I apply this knowledge?
All learning affects students’ lives. I might not know where I will be using it today, but there will be an “aha” somewhere. It might be as simple as knowing the answer on Jeopardy, or critical to making a knowledgeable contribution toward online course design and execution.
·         How well did I participate in this week’s discussion? Am I satisfied with my level and quality of participation?
